Roshan’s brother, accused in ‘Khan Sir’ coaching centre violence case, found dead in Nepal hotel

Patna: Prince Yadav, the younger brother of Gyan Bindu coaching director Roshan Anand and a named accused in the June 2 clash at the coaching institute of Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Biratnagar, Nepal, late on Saturday night.According to sources, Prince had left Bihar fearing arrest and was staying in Nepal with six to seven associates after an FIR was lodged against him in connection with the violence outside Khan Sir’s coaching institute. His death has triggered fresh controversy with family members and politicians demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.After receiving news of his death, Anand’s family rushed to Nepal. While the exact cause of death remains unclear, relatives have expressed suspicion and sought an impartial probe. Adding to the speculation, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav described the incident as a “murder” in a post on social media platform X.Prince was among those named in the FIR registered after the violent attack on Khan Sir’s coaching centre in Patna’s Kadamkuan area on June 2. He was also accused in the 2021 attack on the same coaching institute. According to the FIR, Prince and several others assaulted a security guard, vandalised property and damaged signboards and photographs at the coaching premises.The incident triggered a major controversy in Bihar’s coaching sector.

Following the attack, police arrested three persons, including Anand, who remains in judicial custody. His bail plea is scheduled to be heard on Monday.The case took another turn after a video surfaced showing security personnel allegedly firing shots during the clash. Subsequently, police registered a separate FIR against Khan and arrested two of his security guards, Pradeep Kumar and Talebar Singh. While a Patna civil court granted interim relief from arrest to Khan, both guards remain in jail after their bail applications were rejected.Meanwhile, Anand’s supporters and students have repeatedly staged protests demanding his release. They have alleged selective action by authorities and claimed Anand was jailed without a fair investigation. Demonstrators have called for the formation of an inquiry committee and questioned the differing treatment of the accused persons involved in the case.Town DSP (Patna) Rajesh Ranjan told TOI that Prince was present at the coaching centre on the day of the attack.“It appears he fled to Nepal after the FIR was lodged. We received information that he died in Nepal. As per his associates, he had taken some medicines on Saturday night and his health deteriorated. He was declared brought dead at the hospital in Biratnagar, Nepal. The police there are investigating the case and have sent his body for post-mortem examination. There was one minor injury on his head, but we don’t know the details yet,” he said.According to Nepal Police, Prince was rushed to a hospital after he lost consciousness in his hotel room. He was taken for treatment by four people, including his cousin, Tirtha Kumar Yadav, a resident of Hanumannagar in Nepal’s Saptari district.Officials from Morang Police informed Prince’s family about the incident and were completing the necessary formalities to hand over the body to his relatives.
