Members of Rotary District 3234 on Sunday handed over pink autorickshaws to 100 women during a ceremony organised at the Chennai Trade Centre as part of its Pink Auto Project. According to a press release issued here, the initiative was aimed to equip them to get a stable livelihood and reclaim economic independence.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin commended the programme’s alignment with the State’s vision for inclusive growth and women-led development. Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that 1,000 schools would be adopted through Rotary’s CSR initiative — Namma ooru, Namma school.
Francesco Arezzo, Rotary International President (2025–26), called the initiative “a beacon of Rotary’s global commitment to service above self”.
Rotary District President Vinod Saraogi said, “the distribution was a declaration that when we invest in women, we invest in the future of our society.”
Siva Ilangovan, chairman, Pink Auto Project, was present on the occasion.
