The Chennai Bulls have reclaimed the top spot on the points table, while the Hyderabad Heroes’ winning streak was halted by the energetic Bengaluru Bravehearts.

In the final game of the day, the Mumbai Dreamers, who once held an impressive lead, had to settle for a draw with the Kalinga Black Tigers at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex in Mumbai on Sunday evening, during Season 1 of the Rugby Premier League.

In the first match, the Bengaluru Bravehearts ended the Hyderabad Heroes’ winning run with a 26-21 victory. The Bravehearts started strong, with international stars Akuila Rokolisoa and Philip Wokorach working well together. Rokolisoa contributed a try and a conversion, while Wokorach added a try, giving the Bravehearts a 12-0 lead. The Heroes replied with a try from Wolfram Hacker and a conversion by Manuel Moreno.

Before half-time, a try from Iowane Teba and a conversion by Rokolisoa extended the Bravehearts’ lead. The Heroes, who began the day at the top of the points table, made a comeback with points from Terio Tamani, who scored two tries and a conversion. With four minutes left, the Heroes led 21-19.

The Bravehearts, however, were relentless. Pol Pla added five points, and Rokolisoa’s conversion secured the Bravehearts a crucial win.

In the second game, the Chennai Bulls climbed back to the top of the points table with a commanding 24-7 win over the Delhi Redz. The Redz, who had shown recent improvement, started strong with a try from Matteo Graziano and a conversion by Matias Osadczuk.

However, the Bulls began to regain their form as Vaafauese Maliko scored two tries, giving them a narrow 3-point lead at half-time. After the break, Maliko completed a hat-trick of tries, and Filipe Sauturaga’s precise conversion extended the Bulls’ lead to 10 points.

Haakon Oess then added another try, with Sauturaga converting, helping the Bulls secure a substantial win and return to the top of the points table.

In the final game on Sunday, the Kalinga Black Tigers secured a 17-17 draw from a losing position, giving the Mumbai Dreamers their first points of the season.

The Black Tigers started well with a try by Asis Sabar. The Dreamers, still searching for their first points, equalised with a try from Elias Hancock and a conversion by Waisea Nacuqu. They led by two points at half-time.

In the next quarter, Vuiviawa Naduvalo and Henry Hutchison scored brilliant tries, extending the Dreamers’ lead to 12 points. The Tigers responded with a try and conversion from Ethan Turner. In the final moments, Perry Baker scored a try for the Tigers, securing a draw and salvaging the game from the brink of defeat.
