Marking scheme and negative marking

Candidates must note that the marking scheme includes a penalty for incorrect answers.

Each wrong response will attract negative marking, with one-third of the marks assigned to that particular question deducted. As a result, it is advisable for candidates to answer only those questions they are reasonably confident about, in order to avoid unnecessary loss of marks.

Essential exam day instructions

Ahead of the first phase of the examination, candidates must follow key instructions on the day of the test. These guidelines are compulsory for all examinees and form an important part of the examination protocol.

  • Documents and reporting time: To begin with, candidates must carry their electronic admit card (e-admit card) to the examination centre. Entry will not be permitted without it. Candidates should also ensure that they arrive at the venue strictly at the time indicated on their admit card. The reporting time is mentioned to regulate entry and security checks, and late arrival may lead to disqualification from the day’s session.
  • Prohibited items at the exam centre: In addition to punctuality, candidates must comply with stringent restrictions on personal belongings. Electronic devices of any kind, including mobile phones, Bluetooth-enabled gadgets, pen drives, laptops, calculators and wristwatches, are prohibited inside the examination hall. Items such as pens, pencils, wallets, purses, belts, shoes and metallic accessories, including any form of ornament, are also strictly not allowed. Candidates are advised to plan accordingly and avoid carrying restricted items to prevent inconvenience at the security check.

With the examination beginning tomorrow, candidates are encouraged to review these instructions carefully and prepare all required documents in advance to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience at the centre.
