Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay has released the election manifesto of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party has promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women and collateral-free education loans of up to Rs 25 lakh for students. The manifesto focuses on women, youth and the fishing community, which the party sees as key voter groups.
Presented in a book format, the document builds on Vijay’s earlier promises and lays out a welfare-focused plan. It aims to improve social security, create more job opportunities and provide targeted financial support.
Women At The Centre Of Campaign
Women are at the core of TVK’s strategy, with the manifesto noting that they make up nearly 51 per cent of the electorate. To address safety and financial needs, the party has proposed six free LPG cylinders each year, an increase in monthly assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500, and eight grams of gold under marriage schemes.
The manifesto also promises better maternity benefits, support for women’s self-help groups, and skill programmes to help more women join the workforce.
Focus On Youth Employment And Education
For young voters, TVK has proposed education loans of up to Rs 25 lakh without collateral, covering studies from Class 12 to higher education, including PhD programmes. It has also promised internship stipends, financial help for unemployed graduates and diploma holders, and loans to support youth-led businesses.
Plans For Drug-Free Tamil Nadu
The party has pledged to make the state drug-free through stricter action, awareness campaigns in schools and colleges, and rehabilitation support.
Support For Fishing Communities
TVK has also reached out to fisherfolk, especially in coastal areas. It has promised a minimum support price (MSP) for eight types of fish, Rs 27,000 relief during the fishing ban period, along with subsidised diesel, insurance and housing support.
Stand On National Issues
On national matters, the party has opposed delimitation based on population and the “One Nation, One Poll" proposal, and said it will take legal steps against both.
