Yogi Adityanath defends Halal ban; says ended Eid milan tradition at CM house

Yogi Adityanath says ended Eid Milan tradition at UP CM's residence to maintain secular status

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday strongly defended his government’s recent decision to ban the sale and purchase of Halal-certified products in the state, alleging that the money collected through such certifications was being “misused for terrorism, love jihad, and religious conversions.” Speaking at an RSS centenary event, Adityanath said that Halal certification had become a parallel, unregulated system outside government control. “When purchasing any item, check if it has a Halal certification label. We have banned it in UP. Today, no one in Uttar Pradesh will dare to buy or sell it,” he said. The chief minister claimed that agencies issuing such labels had collectively earned around Rs 25,000 crore across the country, despite having no official recognition from either the Centre or state governments.

“All this money was being misused for terrorism, love jihad, and religious conversions,” he alleged. Adityanath further said strict action would be taken against those “exploiting Indian consumers in the name of Halal certification.” “At what level is this huge conspiracy taking place? We have arrested

(Changur Baba) in Balrampur as an example,” he said.On the Eid Milan tradition, Adityanath said, “When I became the CM, there was a system that Eid Milan programs would always be held at the CM residence and the Raj Bhavan; there were no Holi Milan or Diwali Milan programs. We decided that, if we have given a secular status (to the traditions of India), then the CM residence and the Raj Bhavan should also follow it and we will not organise any such events. Anyone else can organise these programs on their own.

He also praised RSS contributions and highlighted the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, linking it to the efforts of Sangh volunteers and the
