Rs 6L jewellery stolen from cop’s wife at Gwalior railway station

BHOPAL: Gold jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh was stolen from the handbag of a police constable’s wife at Gwalior railway station on Raksha Bandhan morning.Sunarekha Dhakad (42) was waiting on platform 2 to board a train to her brother’s house in Kailaras, Morena, when thieves struck.

She had kept a necklace, four rings, four bangles, a cupboard key and documents in a small purse inside her handbag.On boarding, she noticed the bag felt lighter and found the purse missing. CCTV cameras on the platform were non-functional due to construction, forcing police to scan footage from other areas. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
