Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the subject of social media chatter again after he was photographed sharing a passionate kiss with singer Katy Perry on a private yacht. The Canadian politician is now facing brutal trolling online after the viral photo.

The Daily Mail recently obtained a couple of pictures, where a shirtless Trudeau was seen kissing Perry aboard the singer’s private yacht in Santa Barbara, California, setting the social media buzz with their passionate kiss. The photos reignited speculations about their relationship, which made headlines following the pop star’s split from her longtime boyfriend, Orlando Bloom.

The online criticism was largely directed at Trudeau’s controversial political career, as he resigned as Canadian PM in January after his popularity declined dramatically over issues largely related to immigration and a cost-of-living crisis. Some even hinted at his failed marriage with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, as the couple parted ways in 2023.

“What kind of guy @JustinTrudeau is? He is not sincere to his wife and kids even . Leave the country which he left in tatters. Shameless," said one user.

“Nobody is having more insufferable conversations than the ones Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are having," another user said. A third person posted, “One pretended to be a prime minister. Other one pretended to be an astronaut."

“I couldn’t care less who Trudeau is dating. What bothers me is this guy ruined the lives of millions, pushed hatred towards a group of Canadians, was found guilty of violating Canadians Charter of Rights & Freedoms and he’s out there living his best life like none of it matters anymore. I want accountability for what he did," another user said.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t care who Justin Trudeau kisses or dates?? It’s none of my business and there are many other bigger issues to worry about," a netizen commented.

Neither Perry nor Trudeau have publicly addressed the rumours surrounding their relationship. The duo were first linked in July, after they were spotted having dinner together in Montreal. The politician was also seen attending the Lifetimes Tour concert in Canada shortly after.

Trudeau revealed in August 2023 that he and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, were separating after 18 years of marriage. The former couple share three children – Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.

He announced his resignation as Canadian PM and Liberal Party leader on January 6, following months of declining poll numbers and growing internal division. His announcement follows increasing calls from his party for him to step down amidst a protracted political crisis. His government narrowly survived several no-confidence votes and critics had repeatedly called for his resignation.
