Sacrificial slaughter not permitted in public places during Bakrid in Sambhal

Sacrificial slaughter in public places will not be allowed in Sambhal district during Bakrid, and strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb public order, District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya said on Tuesday (June 3, 2025).

The district administration held a peace committee meeting with various stakeholders, including representatives from areas where Eid prayers will be conducted, to discuss the arrangements. “Sacrifices will be allowed only at 19 pre-identified sites. We held a meeting with all relevant stakeholders. No public or open space will be used for animal sacrifice,” Mr. Pensiya said, addressing a press conference.

“Eid prayers are expected to be held peacefully. The administration will ensure proper arrangements for water, electricity, and sanitation,” the District Magistrate said.

The Sambhal administration put on notice over 900 individuals with past criminal antecedents. “Preventive measures are in place against approximately 900 to 950 individuals. Any attempt to breach the peace will be met with strict legal action,” Mr. Pensiya said.

The Uttar Pradesh Police also cautioned individuals against uploading videos of animal sacrifice on social media.
