Saha to meet PM for bringing back officers on deputation

Agartala: CM Manik Saha is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to discuss pressing administrative and political issues ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections.

A key topic will be the repatriation of All India Service officers currently serving outside the state, which has led to a shortage impacting development projects.A senior state official stated, “Over a dozen IAS officers from the Tripura cadre are currently serving in various ministries and other states. The CM is keen on having them back. Unfortunately, this has not materialized over the past year. This time, Saha will once more take up the matter with the Prime Minister.”Additionally, the BJP-led coalition govt in Tripura is dealing with internal tensions with the tribal-based TIPRA Motha party. TIPRA Motha leaders have received support from the BJP central leadership, causing friction with local leaders and widening tribal and non-tribal differences.During his visit to Delhi, Saha also met Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss raising the ceiling for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) to facilitate development efforts.

He emphasized the urgency of increasing the EAP ceiling to accelerate infrastructure and urban development projects, as well as tourism and municipal services in Agartala and broader Tripura.Saha also met with BL Santhosh, BJP's national general secretary (organization), to discuss the political landscape and ongoing party initiatives in the state. These meetings underscore the Tripura govt's efforts to secure administrative and financial support from the central govt for state development projects.
