Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s emotional promotional clips — audiences wiping their tears, couples embracing post-screening — have sparked conversation online, with some drawing parallels to Saiyaara’s earlier marketing style.
Shaad Randhawa, who featured in Saiyaara and is now getting attention with Deewaniyat, addresses the comparison.“I honestly don’t think there should be any comparisons. Saiyaara and Deewaniyat are both love stories, but completely different (than each other). What happened is simple. Saiyaara connected with a huge audience, and Deewaniyat has done the same. When that happens, the promotions start to look similar because the emotion behindthem is real.”A 20-year run built quietlyShaad has been working for two decades and has acted in films such as Awarapan, Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. Speaking about his journey, he says, “When people still remember your work after so many years, you feel humbled and relieved. It gives you a push to keep working harder.”Hoping this momentum opens new doorsHe hopes the current phase brings in more interesting work. “I wish and pray for that. I want to work with more and more directors. But I also believe everything happens in its own time.”
He adds, “I think people are seeing me differently now. When they start something new, I hope they think of me. And if they don’t, I’ll gently remind them.”Working on stepping out of his shellAdmitting that his own personality may have slowed him down, Shaad shares, “I’m a shy person and have always been in my shell. I should go out more, let people know I want to work with them. Everyone in this industry is so busy creating that you have to tell them, ‘Sir, I’m here.’ That’s something I wasn’t good at. But I’m trying to get better.”
