Sales of Aavin’s milk-based products sees hike

Dairy Development Minister Mano Thangaraj on Tuesday said that Aavin has witnessed an increase of 30% in sale of milk-based products in the city when compared to last year.

Addressing presspersons here at Aavin headquarters after handing over freezers to milk sellers, he said that last year the milk major had sold milk-based products worth ₹25 crore, whereas this year the amount has gone up to ₹33 crore. He said that as part of its efforts to improve sales, 15 hi-tech parlours in Chennai were being renovated at a cost of ₹55 lakh. Cooperative societies in rural areas too have been roped in to sell milk-based products like sweets, biscuits and chocolates.

As part of steps to keep milk-pouring farmers happy, the Minister said he has been visiting the districts and interacting with farmers, asking them about subsidy.
