Samsung has put work into how the Buds4 series sits in the ear. The design – which the company calls the Buds blade design – has been developed using data from hundreds of millions of ear scans and over 10,000 simulations, the company says. The result is a smaller earbud head that is engineered for a more secure and comfortable fit during extended wear. The blade itself now features a premium metal finish with an engraved pinch control area.

The cradle has also been redesigned as a transparent clamshell, making it easier to dock and charge the buds while also showing off the earbuds inside. The two models follow different design philosophies. The Buds4 Pro uses a canal-fit design, sitting inside the ear canal for sound isolation and the standard Buds4 uses an open-fit design for users who prefer a lighter, less enclosed feel. The Buds4 Pro introduces a wider woofer with a new internal design that increases the effective speaker area by nearly 20% compared to the previous generation without making the earbud larger, Samsung says.

The Woofer is combined with a tweeter, delivering sound that Samsung says stays true to the original recording. The outer microphone has been repositioned to the upper side of the metal finish to improve Active Noise Cancellation performance. The Buds4 series comes with Enhanced Active Noise Cancellation that adjusts to different environments in real time, the company says. For calls, Super Clear Call uses super wideband call technology to double the bandwidth of a standard Bluetooth call, keeping the user's voice crisp and clear regardless of the surrounding noise.Furthermore, the Galaxy Buds4 series integrates with Samsung’s Galaxy AI ecosystem in several useful ways. Users can activate AI agents — including Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity — using hands-free voice controls directly through the earbuds, without needing to pick up their phone. The Buds4 Pro adds Head Gesture controls, allowing users to manage calls and interact with Bixby through physical head movements alone.
