New Delhi: Recently, Samsung teased that it will unveil its Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event later this month, and latest reports indicate that Samsung is making major changes to its premium foldable strategy. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
Samsung Mobile and Qualcomm Snapdragon previewed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Whereas the device itself is not shown, the silhouette in the teaser is believed to resemble the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6, suggesting that Samsung might use the customized chipset across both Fold models.
If the reports are accurate, then this will be the first time Samsung equips its Galaxy Z Fold series with four Galaxy versions of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. Earlier, Galaxy Z Fold models used the standard Snapdragon platform. However, the teaser also indicates Samsung will not follow a regional chipset strategy for the Fold lineup; rather, both Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in all markets.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 is likely to continue Samsung’s dual-chip approach. South Korea and major European markets might receive the handset powered by Samsung’s in-house 2nm Exynos 2600 processor. Markets including the US, Canada, China, Japan, and some other regions are expected to get the Galaxy Z Flip 8 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor.
