Sao Paulo midfielder Oscar returned to stable condition after being taken to the hospital after suffering a heart issue on Tuesday, reports said.

The former Chelsea player was training on an exercise bike while undergoing physical testing when he collapsed and was unconscious for two minutes, a report on a Brazilian publication read.

“During tests carried out on Tuesday morning (11), at SuperCT, as part of the preparation for the 2026 pre-season, athlete Oscar presented an incident with cardiological changes, being promptly attended to by the club’s professionals and the medical team from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were present at the site," the club’s statement began.

“The player was then taken to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition and remains under observation for further tests to clarify the diagnosis," the Brazilian Serie A side said.

“As per standard procedure and respecting the player’s privacy, new information will be released as soon as there is an update from the medical team, in agreement with Oscar," the statement added.

Chelsea shared a massage that read, “The thoughts of everyone at Chelsea FC are with our former player Oscar and his family at this difficult time."

The 34-year-old was taken to the Albert Einstein Hospital for treatment and following the shocking incident, it has been suggested that the former Brazil international, who returned to his boyhood club Sao Paulo in December, is now considering retirement.
