Minister for Health Satya Kumar Yadav intervened to resolve the long-pending wage issue of contract workers attached to the Sri Sathya Sai Water Project in Mudigubba mandal of Dharmavaram Assembly constituency in Sri Sathya Sai district.
About 50 contract workers stopped the water supply and resorted to a protest for the past 15 days, protesting against non-payment of salaries for nine months. Following their agitation, water supply to several areas in the mandal had been disrupted, affecting residents.
Municipal administration officials said that after receiving information about the stir, the Minister discussed the issue with Anantapur District Collector and called for immediate steps for payment of pending wages along with arrears.
The district administration promised the workers that their pending wages would be processed and deposited into their accounts within two days. With this, the stalled water supply was resumed from Saturday midnight.
