Satish Shah’s prayer meet to be held today in Mumbai; Sarabhai vs Sarabhai producer JD Majethia shares details

Veteran actor Satish Shah, who entertained audiences for over four decades with his impeccable comic timing and memorable performances, passed away on October 25, 2025, due to kidney failure.

.! and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor had undergone a kidney transplant earlier this year at the age of 74, reportedly to take care of his wife, Madhu Shah, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.The funeral was held in Mumbai on October 26, with family members, friends, and industry colleagues bidding a tearful farewell.

JD Majethia announces prayer meet details

Following the last rites, producer JD Majethia, who worked closely with Satish Shah on Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, took to Instagram to share details of the prayer meet.According to his post, the meet will take place on Monday, October 27, at Jalaram Hall, Juhu, Mumbai, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.The shared note read, “Our beloved Satish Shah. We gather to celebrate the life and creative spirit of a man whose life has touched hearts, inspired many minds, and brought beauty to the film world. Shraddhanjali Kriya. Date: Monday, 27th October, 2025. Venue: Jalaram Hall, Juhu.”

A tearful farewell from the film fraternity

Among those who attended the funeral were Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, Satish Shah’s Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-star and close friend.

His co-actors Rupali Ganguly and Rajesh Kumar turned emotional as they bid him goodbye, while other team members — Sumeet Raghavan, Anang Desai, Paresh Ganatra, JD Majethia, Aatish Kapadia, and Deven Bhojani — also paid their last respects.Veteran actors Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Swaroop Sampat, Suresh Oberoi, and Poonam Dhillon joined the mourning, along with several film and TV personalities, including Neil Nitin Mukesh, Dilip Joshi, Farah Khan, Jackie Shroff, Ali Asgar, Tiku Talsania, Sudhir Pandey, Sharat Saxena, and Avtar Gill.

A legacy of laughter and warmth

An FTII graduate, Satish Shah began his career with minor roles in films like Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan, Gaman, and Umrao Jaan. He soon carved a niche for himself through a mix of comic, supporting, and character roles in both films and television.His filmography boasts beloved titles such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Maalamaal, Hero Hiralal, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Filmi Chakkar, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Saathiya, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.Satish Shah is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah, a designer.
