Iran’s nuclear body defiant after US strikes three key sites; says 'will not be halted'

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation has condemned the US strikes on its nuclear facilities, calling them “savage aggression” and accusing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of complicity.

In a strongly worded statement issued after the attacks on Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, the agency described the strikes as a violation of international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).“This action, which violates international regulations, unfortunately took place under the indifference—and even complicity—of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” the statement read. The organisation said the targeted facilities were under constant IAEA monitoring and that the attacks were a clear breach of Iran’s sovereign rights. The US, according to President Donald Trump, carried out a “very successful attack” using stealth bombers and bunker-buster bombs. Trump claimed the sites were “completely and fully obliterated” and warned of further consequences if Iran retaliated. Iran, however, reported no radioactive leakage and reaffirmed its nuclear programme remained peaceful.Iran’s nuclear agency stressed that the strikes would not halt progress. “With the dedication of thousands of revolutionary and motivated scientists and experts, it will not allow the development of this national industry… to be halted,” it said, vowing legal action and resilience in defence of Iran’s rights.
