Patna: The writ petition filed against Bihar deputy CM Samrat Choudhary in the Supreme Court (SC) was dismissed as withdrawn on Nov 7.The petition was filed by one Anji Reddy Nalamalpu seeking disqualification of Choudhary from contesting Bihar assembly elections.“The learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioner seeks permission to withdraw this petition. Permission is granted. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of as withdrawn,” the SC order reads. The BJP claims the petition was filed for political gain. Party spokesperson Niraj Kumar shared the information about the case on X. He said the apex court decision not only reflects the integrity and commitment of Choudhary, but also dismantles all the political conspiracies being hatched by some selfish elements citing multiple affidavits as a candidate alleging incorrect dates of birth and ages.He said the Supreme Court heard the case seriously and, in settling it, made it clear that political issues should be kept out of the court. The court forced the petitioner to withdraw the petition and did not allow him to challenge the matter again in the court. In an oblique reference to the allegation made recently by Prashant Kishor of Jan Suraaj, Niraj said for some time now, especially after the announcement of elections in Bihar, opposition parties had been making baseless allegations regarding the age and educational qualifications of Choudhary.
“Part of these allegations were presented in the Supreme Court in the form of a petition seeking the cancellation of his election from the Tarapur assembly constituency. This petition was filed by an alleged businessman and social activist from Hyderabad who declared his annual income to be less than Rs5 lakh, while his lawyers’ fees were much higher than his claim,” he said. The BJP leader said this clearly indicates that this case was part of a conspiracy aimed at misleading the people of Bihar and influencing the electoral process.
