School students injured in accident

Several students sustained minor injuries after a school bus fell off the road and overturned on a paddy field in Nagaroor on Tuesday.

The students of Vellalloor Government Lower Primary School were involved in the accident that occurred at Oonukallu near Vellalloor. While there were 19 students on board, around 10 of them sustained minor injuries. The students were rescued by local residents who noticed the bus skid off the road. The students were rushed to a government hospital at Kesavapuram.

While three students were later referred to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, two others were shifted to the Kollam Government Medical College Hospital, official sources said.

General Education Minister V. Sivankutty visited the injured children at the hospital in Kesavapuram and inquired about their well-being. He has sought an inquiry report from the District Collector on the incident.
