Ranchi: CBSE schools across the city have begun strengthening preparations following the board’s new directive requiring both internal and external examiners to submit an undertaking certifying the accuracy of practical examination marks.According to experts, the rule, introduced ahead of the Class X and XII practical examinations beginning January 1, aims to improve accountability, ensure error-free data submission, and enhance time management as schools adapt to the newly implemented dual-board examination system.Under the revised guidelines, the examiners will now be required to officially declare that the marks uploaded to the CBSE portal are correct, verified and free from discrepancies.Commenting on the development, principal of the Firayalal Public School, Niraj Kumar Sinha, said, “This undertaking will act as a formal assurance that the students’ performance has been recorded accurately, preventing errors that could otherwise impact the final board results. CBSE officials have stated that the measure is crucial for maintaining fairness and integrity in the evaluation process.”In response, schools have stepped up readiness on multiple fronts.
Science laboratories and skill-based practice rooms are being reorganised to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the practical examinations. Many institutes are conducting rehearsal sessions and mock practicals to familiarise the students with the revised timelines and procedural changes.Staff orientation meetings are also underway, where teachers and external examiners are being briefed on the undertaking requirement and the mandatory verification protocols to be followed during the mark submission. To manage this, several institutes have established dedicated examination control rooms, trained staff specifically for data entry on the CBSE portal, and allocated buffer days to recheck and verify marks before final submission.Sarswati Shishu Vidya Mandir principal Lalan Kumar said, “Schools are simultaneously realigning their academic calendars to complete coursework earlier, allowing students sufficient time for practical preparation.”
