Schools in Ranchi mull changes in class timings as morning temperatures dip

Ranchi: With the weather taking a turn, several schools in the state capital are contemplating a change in their class timings. The Bishop Westcott Girls’ School in Namkum, has already changed its schedule from Wednesday.

In a notice to parents, the school management said class timings have been switched to 8 am –2:30 from Monday to Friday and till 11:45 am on Saturdays.“Students can wear half-sleeve cardigans over their summer uniforms or light fleece jackets in black or navy blue until the full winter uniform is introduced from November 1.” Other schools however said that they will take a call when classes resume after Chhath.Principal of Euro Kids Play School, Anupama Sinha, said, "With schools closed for the festive season, our revised schedules will come into effect once classes resume after the holidays."However, schools such as Firayalal Public School and Kairali School have decided to wait for an official directive from the district administration before making any changes, they said. A parent, Rina Verma said, "One can already feel nip during morning and night requiring an extra layer while going out of the home. I apprehend this time, winter could be harsh.”
