Miami-Dade County fire officials received the call at approximately 4:35 am, while Spoelstra and the Heat, who had played in Denver the previous night, landed just after 5:10 a.m.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s home sustained significant damage from a large fire on Thursday morning, officials reported. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and Spoelstra was not present when the fire ignited.

Miami-Dade County fire officials received the call about the blaze at approximately 4:36 a.m. Spoelstra and the Heat had played in Denver the previous night, with their charter flight back to Miami landing at 5:11 a.m.

Upon landing, Spoelstra arrived at his residence to find several fire crews attempting to control the fire. Smoke continued to rise from parts of the property for more than three hours after the initial fire trucks arrived, but officials declared the blaze contained around that time.

According to fire officials, over 20 units responded to the incident, combating the fire from both the ground and the air. The fire was confined to Spoelstra’s property, with no damage reported to nearby homes, as per county officials.

Records indicate Spoelstra purchased the five-bedroom, six-bathroom house in December 2023.
