Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) breakdown staff, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th Battalion, Civil Defence Organisation (CDO), Fire Services and the State Government Emergency Response teams here on Friday conducted a mega mock drill on passenger rescue in the event of train accidents.
SCR Principal Chief Safety Officer K. Venkat Ramana Reddy, Divisional Railway Manager Narendra A. Patil, NDRF 10th Battalion Deputy Commandant Md. Aslam, Deputy Chief Safety Officer (Mechanical) Swaraj Kumar and other officers participated in the drill.
“The NDRF, CDO, Police, Revenue and the Fire Brigade and the Medical Teams demonstrated the rescue operations during a train derailment or a fire in trains,” said Additional DRM (Operations) Srinivas Rao Konda.
The safety, Signal and Telecommunication (S&T) and the Emergency Response Teams rescued the ‘victims’ from the bogies through cradle lift, human crutch, hand-seat and pick-a-back methods, Mr. Narendra A. Patil said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkat Ramana Reddy stressed the need to organise continuous training operations on safety to prevent casualties during disasters.
