Sean “Diddy" Combs’ legal team has formally contacted US President Donald Trump’s administration seeking a pardon following the music mogul’s recent conviction on prostitution-related charges, his attorney told CNN on Tuesday.

“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon," attorney Nicole Westmoreland said.

The White House has not confirmed whether Trump is considering granting clemency.

Last week, Trump appeared reluctant, telling Newsmax, “I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great… But when I ran for office, he was very hostile," calling a potential pardon “a more difficult thing to do."

Despite that, Westmoreland said Combs remains optimistic. “He is a very hopeful person, and I believe that he remains hopeful."

Combs, 55, was convicted on July 2 of transporting individuals for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.

The case followed a lawsuit filed by ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and led to multiple other accusations involving sexual misconduct and abuse.

He has been in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his September 2024 arrest.

On Monday, a federal judge denied Combs’ latest request for bail, citing concerns that he could flee or pose a threat to victims and witnesses.

Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that no additional bond conditions would ensure public safety or guarantee his appearance in court.

The ruling marks the fourth bail denial ahead of Combs’ sentencing, scheduled for October 3. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
