Search continues for missing man swept away by flood in Chatra district

Chatra: Despite a massive search operation in the rain-fed Khadhaiya River in the Tandwa block of Chatra district, villagers failed to find 32-year-old Sanju Ram, who went missing after being swept away by a sudden flood on Sunday evening.

The police officials, along with the family members and villagers, were involved in the operation since Monday morning, officials said. Villagers managed to retrieve the bike that was swept by the strong current of the river. However, no trace of the youth was found. Notably, Sanju went to wash his bike on the riverbank with his brother-in-law, Chando Ram, when both got swept away along with the bike. Locals saved Chando, but Sanju went missing. Tandwa police station officer-in-charge Anil Oraon said, “Efforts are on to find the missing man.”
