SEC urged to enhance transparency in ZP polls

Margao: Citizens for Democracy Goa has called upon the Goa State Election Commission to improve transparency in the conduct of upcoming zilla panchayat (ZP) and municipal elections by making all relevant information publicly available online.Elvis Gomes, convener of Citizens for Democracy Goa, voiced concerns over the lack of digital accessibility to election-related documents. The organisation has specifically criticised the commission’s decision to make the draft delimitation of constituencies available only at mamlatdar offices rather than uploading it on the official website. “It is a contradiction that in this age of e-governance, the commission has chosen not to upload the draft of delimitation of constituencies,” he said.The organisation has also sought an extension for filing objections to ensure adequate preparation time for prospective candidates.
