Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel on Monday said that institutions on the lines of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, will be established in the country, with the second such institute coming up in Kanpur.
The foundation stone for the Kanpur AIISH was laid in 2024 and work is currently under progress, she said.
Speaking at the diamond jubilee celebrations of AIISH in Mysuru, the Minister said that AIISH and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are collaborating to extend speech and hearing services to patients visiting AIIMS.
Highlighting the milestones and achievements of AIISH, she described it as one of the most important institutions in South-East Asia in the field of communication disorders.
She said the institute has been playing a vital role in national programmes such as the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness and the Bal Swasthya Karyakram.
