During his first visit to the state after becoming the Vice-President, C P Radhakrishnan will attend various programmes in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Madurai.
COIMBATORE: Security has been beefed up in Coimbatore ahead of Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan's visit to the city. The Vice-President is visiting Coimbatore and Tirupur on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of his three-day tour of Tamil Nadu, from Oct 28 to 30.
During his first visit to the state after becoming the Vice-President, Radhakrishnan will attend various programmes in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Madurai.Radhakrishnan will be accorded a warm reception by BJP cadres and the people of Coimbatore upon his arrival at the city airport on a special flight. He will land here at 9.40am. From there, he will move to CODISSIA for a felicitation by the Coimbatore Citizen Forum. At 2.30pm, the Vice-President will pay homage at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the city corporation building. Later, he will participate in the centenary celebrations of Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar at Perur Mutt. He will then move to Tirupur by road. He will pay floral tributes to the Kumaran statue the and Gandhi statue in Tirupur.On Wednesday, the Vice-President will attend a felicitation programme at Velayudhasamy Kalyana Mandapam in Tirupur.
He will reach Coimbatore by road at 4.50pm before departing to Madurai on a special flight.Ahead of his tour to Coimbatore and Tirupur, nearly 1,900 police personnel have been deployed for security. Coimbatore police have prohibited the flying of drones in the city.The Tirupur police have announced traffic diversions in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday. In a press release, the police stated that heavy vehicles coming to Tirupur via Dharapuram should reach Uthukkuzhi via Kovilvazhi, Perunthozhuvu and Coolipalayam Junction to enter the city. Similarly, vehicles on the Palladam Road will be diverted to Ayyampalayam Junction - Veerapandi Pirivu to reach the Palladam Road again to enter the city.
Heavy vehicles on the Avinashi Road should take a left from Thirumurugan Poondi to reach the Pooluvapatti - PN Road to enter the city.
