Senior Rajasthan IAS officer Alok passes away

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Alok, serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Rajasthan government’s Energy Department, passed away in New Delhi on Monday (June 2, 2025) following a brief illness. He was 59.

Mr. Alok had been undergoing treatment for cancer after being admitted to a hospital in the national capital last month. A 1993-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, he had held several key positions across various departments in the State government. He was on deputation to the Centre between 2020 and 2024.

Widely regarded as an expert in the energy sector, Mr. Alok was born in 1966 and held a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He was cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium in New Delhi on Monday evening.

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and several other leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, expressed their condolences on his passing. A number of departmental and official review meetings scheduled for Monday were postponed as a mark of respect for the departed bureaucrat.
