Inter’s triumph prevented Roma from taking the outright lead at the top of the table, leaving them level on 15 points with Inter and Napoli.
Earlier in the evening, Napoli had suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Torino, their second league loss of the season.
Inter broke the deadlock in just six minutes, with Bonny sprinting onto an incisive pass from Nicolo Barella and slotting his finish past keeper Mile Svilar.
After the break, Roma attacked with greater intent, compelling Inter keeper Yann Sommer to make a fine save from Paulo Dybala’s free kick.
Just before the hour mark, Roma’s Artem Dovbyk, under pressure, headed a corner just over the bar.
It was an evenly contested match in the final minutes, with both sides creating chances. Inter came closest when Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strike rattled the woodwork.
Bonny expressed his delight to Sky Sport Italia, saying, “It is wonderful to score goals. We worked as a team today with great spirit and are happy with these very important three points. I am learning every day from my teammates. We all work so hard and play our part."
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini expressed pride in his side’s performance despite conceding an early goal. “It was a situation that undoubtedly decided the match, but aside from that and the result, I remain convinced by the performance that we will do well. We tried everything to get the equaliser against a strong Inter side; some difficulties were inevitable. There are some defeats that give you further belief and conviction in your capabilities."
