The nagging Settipalle lands issue, which has been an eyesore in Tirupati for multiple decades, is on the road to a resolution to the mutual satisfaction of all the stakeholders.
The efforts taken by the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman ‘Dollars’ C. Divakar Reddy yielded fruit with the State cabinet according its nod to the G.O. No.173, as proposed by the Revenue department.
As per the amendment, it has been decided to provide at least two cents of land to the plot owners.
It may be recalled that the farmers of the village abutting the city as well as the owners of the plots in the layouts laid in the village were at loggerheads for a long time due to the haphazard development of layouts, multiple registrations etc., which led to a legal tangle.
The successive governments in the State stayed away from stirring the hornet’s nest, apparently not willing to incur the wrath of either the farmers or the plot owners. However, the NDA Alliance regime has taken serious note of the issue of resolving Settipalle lands and got down to deliberations with both the sides to arrive at a formula that satisfies all.
Mr. Divakar Reddy stayed in Vijayawada for the last two days and got the issue into the cabinet agenda as an additional item.
He also discussed the issue with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for IT Nara Lokesh in advance and secured their approval.
