Dubai Accident: Seven Indian workers were killed and nine others injured after a minibus collided with a truck that had stopped in the middle of a road in Dubai, authorities said.

The Indian Consulate in Dubai expressed condolences over the accident and said it was working closely with local authorities to assist those affected.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of several Indian workers," the mission said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The consulate said officials had visited the hospital and met with the injured workers, adding that it was providing all possible assistance and support.

“Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the grieving families during this difficult time," it said.

According to Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, preliminary investigations indicated that the truck had stopped suddenly in the middle of Emirates Road because of a technical fault.

“The bus driver, who allegedly failed to pay attention and keep a safe distance, then rammed into the truck from behind," he said in a statement.

The collision resulted in seven deaths and nine injuries, including five serious and four moderate cases, he said. All injured passengers were transported to hospital for treatment.

Dubai Police said specialists from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section were dispatched to the scene to examine evidence and determine the precise causes of the crash.

Traffic patrols secured the area, managed traffic flow and facilitated access for emergency responders, while work crews removed the damaged vehicles and restored normal traffic movement, Brigadier Juma Salem said.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
