Seven people died after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off road and fell into a gorge due to landslide on Friday night.

In a tragic incident, seven people died after their car was swept away by a massive landslide and plunged into a gorge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Bana-Seppa Road on Friday night, officials said.

According to sources, there were two families in the car when the landslide struck amid continuous rainfall in the region. “All seven occupants of the car have been dead," sources said.

The deceased were identified as Sanju Badi, aged about 32, his wife Tasum Badi, their two children—Kachung Badi (5) and Nicha Badi (2)—along with a pregnant woman and two other children. Others among the deceased were the wife and children of Sichi Yame, according to sources.

A Sumo vehicle carrying several passengers was also caught in the landslide but stopped just at the edge of the road. No one suffered injuries, although the passengers were left shaken by the incident, officials said.

The road between Bana and Seppa is known for frequent landslides, especially during the rainy season. Local people have often complained about the bad road conditions and the lack of warning systems.

Rescue teams were deployed at the site, but the constant rain and mud made their job difficult.
