SFI sweeps Kannur University college union polls

The Students Federation of India (SFI) registered a massive victory in the Kannur University college union elections, winning a majority of seats across Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts.

In Kannur district, the SFI won in 49 out of 55 colleges. It captured key institutions including Government Brennan College, Payyanur College, Government College, Peringome; SES College, Sreekandapuram, and SN College, Kannur.

Notably, the SFI created history by securing all seats in Nirmalagiri College, Koothuparamba, and broke the 14-year dominance of the KSU at Navajyothi College. It also regained Paisakary Devamatha College after three years and won De Paul College, Peravoor, long held by the KSU. SFI retained both Palayad and Mangattuparambu university campuses.

In Kasaragod district, the SFI won in 11 of the 18 colleges. It wrested Government College, Kasaragod, from the United Democratic Students’ Front (UDSF). It also captured all seats in Peoples Cooperative Arts and Science College, Munnad, Government Arts and Science College, Uduma, E.K. Nayanar Memorial Government College, Elerithattu, Government Arts and Science College, Kinanoor, and P.K. Rajan Memorial Campus, Palathadam, besides Pallipara IHRD campuses.

In Wayanad, the SFI won in three out of five colleges, marking its 18th consecutive win in Government College, Mananthavady.
