Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj is accelerating the final stages of his action thriller 'O' Romeo'. Lead actor Shahid Kapoor is returning for a two-day patch shoot this week, focusing on action and dialogue. An additional eight-day schedule in January 2026 will incorporate crowd sequences and body doubles. Editing is already in progress for the February 13 release.
While many film units ease off as the year winds down, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj is reportedly doing the opposite. His upcoming action thriller ‘O’ Romeo’ is entering its final stretch, and the closing steps are happening fast.
There is a quiet kind of excitement in that, the way a set can feel sharper and more alive when everyone knows the finish line is near.
Year-end push on a closed set
According to Mid-Day, Bhardwaj and lead actor Shahid Kapoor are set to return to work on December 28 for a quick, two-day patch shoot at Vrundavan Studios in Malad. This is being described as the last leg of an otherwise tightly guarded production. An insider close to the unit told the media, “It’s a patch shoot, with some action and dialogue-heavy scenes lined up.” During this short schedule, the camera will largely stay with Kapoor as he completes key portions. Triptii Dimri and Randeep Hooda are not expected to report for this leg, as their scenes are not required for the planned patchwork.Industry watchers often describe patch shoots as the film version of tightening screws. They can look small on paper, but they can change pacing, clean up continuity, and sharpen a sequence that is almost there but not quite.
January schedule and the race to release
After a brief New Year break, production is expected to resume with an additional eight-day shoot in January 2026. Reports suggest this section will focus mostly on crowd sequences and scenes that can be staged with body doubles, keeping the schedule efficient while the edit progresses.
“If required, the actors may be requested to report for a day or so,” the insider added, indicating that the team may keep cast availability flexible in case a quick pickup becomes necessary.Editing on ‘O’ Romeo’ is already underway, with the production aiming to meet its February 13 theatrical release. The overlap of shooting and cutting is a familiar rhythm on tightly planned films, and it often signals urgency behind the scenes. With Bhardwaj keeping the set moving and Kapoor carrying the action-heavy final stretch, ‘O’ Romeo’ appears to be stepping into its decisive phase, the one where every day counts and every shot has a job to do.
