A Tahsildar and Executive Magistrate of Shamirpet mandal was arrested by the officials of Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday for accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh as part payment of a larger demand of ₹30 lakh for processing land conversion application.
The accused, T. Sucharitha, Tahsildar, Executive Magistrate and Joint Sub-Registrar of Shamirpet, was trapped by officials of the Rangareddy range at around 2 p.m.
According to the ACB, the accused officer demanded ₹30 lakh from a complainant for processing and approving an application related to the nala conversion of 30 acres of agricultural land. She accepted ₹2 lakh as part payment through her private driver, identified as V. Nagesh.
The tainted bribe amount was recovered from the possession of the driver.
Both the Tahsildar and the driver were arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The bureau stated that further investigation into the case is under way, while details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB also appealed to people to report any demand for bribes by government officials through its toll-free helpline 1064 or through its official social media platforms.
