In a significant political move, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has named Sharad Pawar for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Maharashtra. The development occurred after Supriya Sule, Pawar's daughter and a key leader of the NCP (SP), met the top brass of the Congress leadership in the state and discussed the potential nomination. The Congress leaders agreed on the proposal and provided their green signal for the move.

Sule then moved to Matoshree, the official residence of the former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, and the latter also agreed to nominate Pawar for the Rajya Sabha.

"I thank all the Congress and UBT arena top leadership that they have extended support to Sharad Pawar unanimously for the lone seat of Rajya Sabha candidate from MVA," Sule said after the proposal was accepted.
