Sharing of social media profile: Vinayakan’s statement recorded

The Kochi City cybercrime police recorded the statement of actor Vinayakan after a Keralite based in Mumbai lodged a petition accusing the actor of having shared his social media profile picture featuring his minor daughter in a post.

At the heart of the issue was Vinayakan’s controversial social media post in the wake of the death of former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, which drew considerable flak from various sections of society and on and off social media. The petitioner shared a few such critical posts with the actor egging him to respond.

Vinayakan did respond with a post but in the process inadvertently shared the profile of the petitioner featuring his daughter. “We found that it was the petitioner himself who shared the profile with the actor and that being a father he should not have put his minor daughter’s image as his public profile in the first place. The actor was let out since no ground for a case was found,” said cyberpolice sources.
