star and billionaire investor Mark Cuban has warned that Elon Musk’s fallout with President Donald Trump could hurt the

and SpaceX chief’s businesses. During an interview with Semafor, Cuban was asked to share his thoughts on Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s fight. Sharing his views, he said "He's had to make some choices," adding "There's been books written about anybody who works with Donald Trump has been burned."The Shark Tank star described Trump as "a unique beast" adding that Musk may have overestimated his closeness with the US president. "He got close to the sun and what happened, happened," Cuban said. "He may have thought he was the sun. It just never works."

From Trump-Musk’s close ties to sharp criticism

Musk previously worked with the Trump administration, holding a role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before stepping down to focus on his companies. The billionaire was also a major financial backer of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.The relationship soured after the world’s richest person criticized Trump’s policies, including tariffs and the "One Big Beautiful Bill." The rivalry deepened to the extent where Elon Musk also floated the idea of creating a third political party to challenge Republicans and Democrats, a move that drew Trump’s opposition.

Potential policy risks for Elon Musk’s companies

In a possible blow to Musk, Trump nominated Jonathan Morrison — a longtime critic of Tesla — to lead the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The move could result in stricter oversight of Tesla’s autonomous vehicles. Trump has also voiced skepticism about self-driving technology.On the space front, Trump dismissed Musk ally and SpaceX investor Jared Isaacman as his choice to head NASA, later claiming Musk had lobbied for the appointment.
