The Hindu Group (THG) and Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, on Tuesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on academic enrichment initiatives aimed at enhancing learning, communication skills and industry readiness of students.
The MoU was signed on the university campus by vice-president (sales and distribution) of The Hindu Group Sridhar Aranala and Registrar of Sharnbasva University S.G. Dollegoudar in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of Sharnbasva University Anilkumar Bidve and Regional General Manager of The Hindu Group (Hyderabad) S.D.T. Rao.
The partnership envisages a series of academic and co-curricular engagements under two key initiatives – The Businessline Campus Connect for management students and The Hindu Future India Club for engineering students.
Under the Businessline Campus Connect, The Hindu Group will provide Businessline newspaper (print edition) to enrolled students for 125 days (Monday to Friday).
The programme also includes two guest lectures (one physical and one virtual) by industry leaders and domain experts, besides an intra-college business quiz to foster healthy competition and awareness of current economic and corporate trends.
Students will gain access to the Businessline Campus Connect app, featuring case studies, podcasts, explainer columns and weekly quizzes.
For engineering students, the collaboration under the Future India Club initiative includes a 125-day subscription to The Hindu newspaper, along with digital access to The Hindu, Businessline, Frontline and Sportstar.
The programme will feature two workshops (one physical and one virtual) on essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking and anger management.
In addition, two guest lectures by leading experts and intra-college quiz and debate competitions will be organised to promote analytical and problem-solving abilities among students.
Bridging the gap
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Anilkumar Bidve lauded The Hindu Group’s initiatives to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
“This collaboration will not only expose our students to the best journalistic and business practices but also help them develop analytical thinking and effective communication skills essential for their professional growth,” he said.
Mr. Aranala noted that The Hindu Group has been actively partnering with educational institutions across the country to promote critical thinking and media literacy.
“Through our initiatives, we aim to inspire students to stay informed, think independently and engage constructively with contemporary issues,” he said.
The collaboration marks a significant step in the university’s efforts to integrate real-world learning with academic instruction, fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation among students.
