As many as 15 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi have been selected for a job-assured, six-month skill-based training programme at the Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) Centre, located in PES University, Bengaluru.
Sharnbasva University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anilkumar Bidve said that the state-of-the-art laboratories at the BEST Centre have been established by Bajaj Auto Limited at a cost exceeding ₹30 crore, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
A distinctive aspect of the BEST Centre is its exclusive focus on students from engineering colleges and technical institutions situated in Tier II and Tier III cities. This condition, set by Bajaj Auto, aims to bridge the urban-rural skill gap and promote equitable access to advanced technical training.
The selected students will undergo training across four interdisciplinary modules, covering cutting-edge areas such as Mechatronics, Motion Control and Sensor Technology, Automation and Robotics, Smart Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0. The labs are outfitted with over 120 advanced machines and systems, including smart vision tools, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), and Computer Integrated Manufacturing platforms.
Students will gain proficiency in more than 20 industry-relevant software tools. The curriculum has been crafted by experts from Bajaj Auto Limited in collaboration with the Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune, with the aim of aligning academic training with real-world industrial needs. Regular interactions with professionals and industry experts form a core component of the programme.
Highlighting the practical focus of the initiative, Prof. Bidve emphasised that each student is assured of job placement upon completion of the programme, supported by regular campus recruitment drives conducted by leading companies.
