With just 10 interceptions, he threw for 37 touchdown passes and 4,134 yards total. The Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award recipient were both Scheduur.
Experts forecast his first-round selection in the NFL Draft.
But he slipped to the fifth round. Now, he’s in a tough competition with veterans like Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Reports say Shedeur is the only one among them who hasn’t yet practiced with the Browns’ first-team offence at camp.
James Jones believes Shedeur Sanders should be the Browns’ lead quarterback
On June 13, 2025, former NFL wide receiver James Jones, who played with the Green Bay Packers, publicly blasted the NFL on NFL Network.
He did not mince words. Jones said that Shedeur should be the Browns’ starter when the season begins.
“It’s been a long time since the Browns had a reliable quarterback,” Jones said. “To me, Shedeur is the best talent they’ve got. You’ve got to play him in Week 1.”The Cleveland Browns have struggled to find a steady quarterback since Baker Mayfield. Their current starter, Deshaun Watson, hasn’t lived up to what was expected. That’s why fans and coaches are watching Shedeur closely.
