 Ram Gopal Varma says Nagarjuna gave him his 'true birth' as a filmmaker

In a nostalgic celebration, director Ram Gopal Varma and superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni came together for the launch of the 4K remastered trailer for their legendary film 'Shiva'. Varma expressed his gratitude towards Nagarjuna for being a cornerstone of his filmmaking journey, while Nagarjuna praised Varma's creative foresight and dedication.

Director Ram Gopal Varma and Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni reunited in Hyderabad for the grand trailer launch of the 4K remastered version of their iconic film 'Shiva'. On Tuesday, during the event, the director went on to credit Nagarjuna for shaping his career.

Ram Gopal Varma's experience of 'Shiva'

As per an India Today report, Ram Gopal Varma went to share the stage with the lead Nagarjuna. During his speech, he shared his gratefulness to the actor and said, "My true birth as a filmmaker was given by Nagarjuna". He also shared his joy to working on the 4K version of the film. "We never imagined we would be here again for the 'Shiva' 4K re-release. I'm grateful for this opportunity and the creative freedom from Nagarjuna.

He always believed in technology and encouraged us to use the best available."RGV also revealed how the remastering process was an innovative experience. "The original sound was redone and converted to Dolby Atmos using advanced AI engineering. Damodar, who did the original sound effects, has his grandson working on this version. The remastered 'Shiva' looks fresh and sharp," he added.

Nagarjuna praises RGV's vision and hard work

Nagarjuna, who played the lead role in Shiva, also praised RGV's relentless efforts in bringing back the film in a new avatar.

"Thirty-six years ago, Ram Gopal Varma directed 'Shiva' and made me a star. The remastered version has come out extremely well. RGV worked hard for months to make this happen."

A special connection to ANR and release dates

The 'Coolie' actor also expressed how personally significant the re-release date was to him. "Many milestones in my life are connected with my father's film release dates. 'Shiva 4K' is releasing on November 14, while the original was on October 5. These dates align with key moments from my father ANR garu's cinematic journey," the actor said.The remastered version will hit the theaters on November 14.
