Shivamogga police launched the Locked House Beat System (LHBS) on Friday, May 1, to prevent house break-ins while residents are away from their homes. The initiative urges residents to inform the police before travelling, enabling officers to keep a watch on their homes.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil, addressing a press conference on Friday, said a dedicated helpline had been set up for this purpose. Residents can share their travel details by sending a WhatsApp message to 82779-82901, mentioning their departure and return dates, home address with location, and a selfie taken in front of their house. The selfie and location details will help police identify and locate the property.
