Siddalinga Swami booked for giving call to demolish tomb on Central University campus

The District Police have lodged a complaint against Sri Ram Sene national president and head of Karuneshwar Mutt in Andola village of Jewargi taluk Siddalinga Swami for what is being said misleading people to incite communal tension by demanding the demolition of tomb on Central University of Karnataka campus in Kalaburagi claiming that they were illegal structures constructed in the recent period.

The seer said that Muslims recently constructed a tomb on university campus and are offering prayer regularly and threatened that he will demolish the tomb structure on Sunday, if the district authorities failed to raze the structure to the ground.

The complainant, police personnel Ramaling, along with his staff Fakirappa, on August 4 conducted spot inspection on university campus and found that a tomb present there seems to be nearly a century-old and clarified that no new structures have been erected as claimed by Siddalinga Swami.

The remarks made by the seer are an attempt to incite violence and fuel communal tensions which is a grave threat to communal harmony, the complaint stated.

A case has been registered at Narona Police Station against Siddalinga Swami under Sections 192, 299 and 302 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for willfully giving provocation with intent to cause riot, promoting enmity between different groups on the ground of religion, deliberate and malicious act and making statement deliberately to hurt religious sentiments.
