Criticizing the district authorities for issuing a notice asking him to refrain from provocative speeches, the Sri Ram Sene national honorary president Siddalinga Swami has written to the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department seeking action against Minister Priyank Kharge and the former legislator Doddappagowda Patil Naribol for their provocative statement that went viral on social media.
This has come about after the district authorities issued a notice to Siddalinga Swami directing him to deposit a surety of ₹1 lakh. In the notice, the Jewargi Tahsildar has directed Siddalinga Swami to appear before him and explain why he should not be ordered to execute a bond with sureties for a period of one year with an undertaking that he will refrain from delivering provocative speeches that incite communal hatred.
Addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Monday, he criticised the Police Department for not lodging a complaint against Mr. Naribol and Mr. Kharge and accused the police officials of showing special treatment towards both the political leaders.
“Priyank Kharge while on a phone call warned an official that he will set on fire a bus depot and Naribol addressing protestors during the Jewargi Bandh on December 24 last threatened that he will barge into a police station and thrash the officials there. If issuing a threat can be considered a provocative offence, then why have the police not shown the same concern in lodging complaints against both these leaders?” the seer asked.
He further said that the district police are deliberately targeting him to appease Priyank Kharge.
