Students can immerse themselves in literary pursuits courtesy a novel programme organised by the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) under the General Education department.

Aksharakoottu, a literary festival for children, will be held on the Kanakakkunnu Palace premises on September 18 and 19.

The festival is intended to encourage students with an interest in literary pursuits and give them an insight into literature and language.

It will include writing workshops, discussions, book talks and releases, presentation of literary works, and cultural programmes.

Special support will be given to students who have published a collection of their works.

Books of students who attend government and aided schools will be exhibited adjacent to the main venue at the literary festival. English and Malayalam works of nearly 140 students will be exhibited.

There will be separate discussion forums for primary, secondary, and senior secondary sections at Aksharakoottu.

Prominent writers, and teachers who are authors will also take part in the festival, the logo of which was released by Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty.

Students from other schools can attend the festival, view the exhibition, and take part in other activities. An online link will be arranged for students to register. On-the-spot registrations will also be possible. Registration will be free.
