Doomsday' feels like 'a love letter to entire genre of superhero movies'

Simu Liu, the ‘Shang Chi’ star, has opened up about getting all the thrills for being a part of ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ The upcoming film will see the reunion of the beloved superheroes from across the universe, and the enthusiasm has led the fans to swarm for more.

A love letter to the entire genre

Liu teased about the 2026 release, citing that he is getting to work with many people, especially those whom he grew up watching. “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that,” he said in an interview with Screen Rant. As for the essence of the film, the 36-year-old said that the film is for all the misfits and underdogs who grew up reading comic books.

“Feeling like there was hope for them [comic books] somehow – that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in – I think there’s just always a special place in my heart for that entire genre,” the esteemed actor added.
