Singhal takes campaign digital, reaches out to over 1L voters

Guwahati: Moving beyond the routine practice of posting photographs and videos of rallies on social media, BJP candidate from Dhekiajuli, Ashok Singhal, on Sunday turned to digital outreach, claiming to have connected with over one lakh voters through what he described as a “cost-effective” campaign.Singhal on Sunday reached out to voters through a live digital address streamed simultaneously on Facebook, X and YouTube. Speaking to voters at 4 pm, Singhal said, “It is for the first time in the country that technology has been used to connect with such a large number of voters at one go across 2,500 locations in a single constituency. This is an example of an innovative and effective use of digital platforms in the current era.

Singhal said the social media programme enabled him to reach voters across the constituency without spending money or inconveniencing people through physical meetings. Describing it as a cost-effective campaign model, he said such digital outreach could be replicated by other candidates in future to save time, money and energy.He said that his constituency has been divided into 2,500 small zones, with each zone having 40-50 voters or BJP supporters.

“Accordingly, arrangements were made for my speech,” he added.Singhal added that the programme has also proved BJP’s strong organisational base in the constituency.He said that it is the support of the voters which will ensure BJP’s win in the constituency by over a margin of 1 lakh votes. Singhal added that the people of the constituency and the state have witnessed the growth and progress of the state in the last 10 years. “An environment free of protests or movements has been created, where there is no place for violence and picketing. We have been working for the progress, development and safeguard of the state,” he said.
